Los Angeles, CA --January 22, 2009-- February 2009 marks another milestone for Al Borde, the Latin alternative music and entertainment voice of Los Angeles, as it switches to a completely interactive format that allows readers to access their favorite alternativo entertainment through an assortment of new, multi-tiered digital products.

Always in tune with the pulse of the market, Al Borde’s digital platforms provide immediate access to entertainment such as its award-winning music interviews, lifestyle news, free music downloads and increased fan interactivity. Among its many offerings are www.alborde.com, the weekly Al Borde e-newsletter, Al Borde e-blasts and text alerts, a monthly 4-page Al Borde e-zine featuring a new original cover and downloadable gig calendar localized for Chicago, Houston, LA, the San Francisco Bay area and San Diego/Tijuana, and Al Borde’s string of live concerts and events.

Al Borde’s co-founder Alicia Monsalve and senior editor Jesus “Pelos” Olvera will continue to offer their edgy take on the Rock en Español scene and feature emerging Latin bands from the U.S. and Latin America.  Regular contributors, Hilda Hernandez, Rafael Acero and Ric Fazekas will keep Al Borde fans in the know by providing content on gigs, fashion, clubs, and genre trends.

“Since its inception, Al Borde has stood apart as a pioneer in innovation and creativity,” remarked Alicia Monsalve. “Continuing in the same direction and taking advantage of the many changes faced by the media, it is inevitable for us to evolve toward a platform that allows us to reach new and greater audience sectors, without of course losing direct contact with users’ needs and maintaining a strong interaction with the local scenes that have long defined us.”

The shift highlights Al Borde’s position as a leader in the alternativo scene by remaining versatile and giving readers what they want. “Our online/digital media mix gives our readers the freedom to choose their favorite Al Borde offerings when and how they want,” explained Martha de la Torre, publisher of Al Borde. “They can choose to receive concert and news updates through text alerts, the latest articles and promotions through our weekly e-newsletter, get up close and personal with their favorite artists at Al Borde’s exclusive concerts, and find all of our great articles, videos and free music downloads on www.alborde.com.”

Since 1997 Al Borde has had a raw edge, serving as one of the few sources of entertainment information by promoting local shows as well as national and international rock en Español talent, and eventually gaining a reputation as a leading voice of the genre, read and respected throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

“With an eleven year history, Al Borde is considered the bible of rock en Español,” declared Ric Fazekas, Senior Vice President, Artists Relations & Acquisition of VYJ2 Label Group, who has worked in the Chicano rock scene since the 1960’s. “I have relied on Al Borde since the late 90's as my primary source of information, and many view it as THE primary place to learn about key bands in the scene.”

Al Borde is Los Angeles’ leading source for news and entertainment in the Latin Alternative/rock en Español arena. Al Borde is a unit of El Clasificado – an Hispanic Business 100 multimedia company – and is rapidly becoming a leading multiplatform company that offers advertising opportunities through sponsored events, section sponsorships, web sites, and mobile services.
